Is IE-6 Dead ...?

Being a web developer who takes outsourced works of web design I am usually asked by the clients to be compatible with IE6. Though some of them back-step when i let them know that i do charge an extra 30% for designing for IE6 most of them are ready to pay. While IE6 was a forerunner in browser family its user share has gone considerably low(close to something like 4.02%). IE7 and IE8 has been able to somewhat retain the microsoft's share (6.4% and 17.6% respectively) in the ongoing browser war.

Being such non-standard and nightmare to developers and that too from such a big company like Microsoft IE6 was making our lives terrible. Happy to bid adieu IE6 and you "Maynot Rest in Peace".For those who want some words of condolence to be showered can go to ie6funeral.com a website by aten design group.

Going Free with Mailchimp

As everybody know MailChimp is something that comes to our mind while we think about newsletters and Email Campaigns. Being reasonable (starting from $15 ) they have also included a "Forever Free Plan" that allows us to store up to 2,000 subscribers and send up to 12,000 emails per month that would be just enough for starters. While working for a non-profit(did that work for free) i had to integrate the newsletter subscription form . Being using Wordpress platform it was easy to do since Mailchimp provided an excellent plugin for adding the newsletter form.Once you create an account and get the API key from "Account" drop down menu go to the plugin settings page and enter it... you can even style it from there. As long as they keep this service free it would certainly help newbies to test the water. Long live MailChimp's "Forever Free" policy

In Love with GoDaddy !!!

It has been only days before i switched to GoDaddy for my new website sandacreative. It has been pretty different from my early provider(Planet). I wanted to have a fresh Wordpress installation. I used to use SVN for wordpress installations but Godaddy doesn't allow svn but instead they give the Hosting Connection option where it is a piece of cake... From creating the DB , admin user and password and there it is within few minutes. Here is a video showing how to do this(though they have changed there User Interface a bit).

Though i was a bit worried about the svn access it was really nice to see almost all necessary Applications (Drupal, Joomla and a lot more ..)

The bottom of the page is a decision point for visitors to your site. They will either decide to "continue browsing your site, or leave."

From just copyrights footers have changed to something that keeps the visitors engaged.Once a user who is happy, engaged and scanning your site reaches the bottom it is not that great to greet them with just a copyright. So things have changed and here are some majestic examples that caught my attention while touring .... would like to know what you think
